This is my painting for the week. It is a 9x12 acrylic and watercolor painting of my beautiful Anna. I really enjoyed the process of painting this one. I think it always means so much when it is someone you love that you're creating a rendition of. Its also a lot harder to do. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it!!
Not to be outdone, Anna submitted her own painting for the Thursday Sketch this week. :) I don't think we're certain if it is buggies or dragons... maybe both.
This gorgeous Daffodil was created by SarahJayne! It is a 6 x 7.5" Gouache watercolor. I love the depth of color and the texture. And is it just me or is her signature done in such a fun way? :D Love this one. It is a perfect representation of the start of spring, which was last week on March 21!
"Attack of the Rabid Dust Bunnies" by SarahJayne.
This humorous piece was inspired by one of the villians on the Reclaiming The Home group on Chore Wars. She said that the rabid dust bunnies kept defeating her when she was claiming her points for her chores, and decided to do a painting about it for this week. I absolutely love it. Humorous though it might be, I love the different tones and textures in the painting. It is a 5.5 x 8.5" Gouache watercolor.
Rachel Hall created this beautiful sketch. I love how she seemed to capture so much life and joy in the girl's expression. I believe this is a self-portrait, as it reminds me a lot of her! I think it has a lot of charm and I really love how it is crisp and clean, yet still artistic and flowy. Can't wait to see more next week!
Big Bucket Girl over on Flickr created this incredible self-portrait. I am absolutely infatuated with the emotion in this painting. She did this painting using her fingers as her brush. Incredible! We had a similar exercise in my college life-painting class and it really helped the creative spirit to flow. She has posted several other closeups of this image, and a couple of others that she created this week, in the Thursday Sketch Flickr Group. Be sure to go check them out!
A big thank you to everyone who submitted this week! I can't wait to see more in the coming weeks. Remember that you can join in at any time, so feel free to post your paintings and a link to your blog if you have one, in the Flickr group by next Thursday and I will include it in the weekly post!
Happy Sketching!
